The Hallorans, August 2005: On the left are Daniel, his wife Suzanne and their children Eleanor (2000) and Gabriel (2003). Their daughter Celia (2007) came later. On the right are John, his wife Melisa and their sons Jordan (2001) and Nathan (2003). Seated are Daniel and John's parents, Terrence and Constance.

Constance died suddenly on July 24, 2008. She consistently had two books near the chair where she was sitting when she died. One was her book of monastic prayers and Scripture readings. The other was usually a novel written by one of her favorite authors. She was reading a murder mystery when she took her last breath.

Elizabeth and Terrence Halloran, June 2009

One Tuesday in October 2008, Terrence was recruited to lead the Bible Study class at the parish hall. Sister Pauline, who had taught the class for years, would be away for two weeks on a much needed rest. She had called Elizabeth and asked her to "give him a warm welcome." The following Wednesday, dear Sister Pauline suddenly went home to Jesus.

Elizabeth and Terrence had their first "warm welcome" date over breakfast, and discovered they had many things in common. During the next few months, at small and large gatherings, they enjoyed getting to know each others' families. They solemnized their engagement on February 11, at the Immaculata church on the campus of San Diego University.

On June 24, 2009 the 11 months widowed Terrence Halloran and the 6 years widowed Elizabeth Ferdig became husband and wife. They were united in the Sacrament of Marriage during Wednesday morning Mass at their parish church in Beaumont, among the friends they have made who regularly attend this Mass. The celebrant was their friend and retired pastor Father John Domas.

Elizabeth's sister and brother-in-law were the matron of honor and best man. After the brief ceremony, Elizabeth and Terrence enjoyed a lovely breakfast with them and Father Domas at the Mission Inn in Riverside.
